BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- The University of Pikeville football team will be looking for its second win over an NCAA Div. I FCS opponent in the past three seasons when it kicks off against Campbell at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday.

UPIKE made headlines in 2013 when it knocked off Morehead State, now it gets another chance to take on a team from the Pioneer Football League.

Campbell, which is hosting the Bears for its season opener, was picked to finish second in the league's preseason coaches' poll.

Game Notes

·        UPIKE opened its season last Thursday, topping Mid-South Conference East Division foe Bluefield (Va.) 32-13. The Bear defense limited the Rams to just 201 yards of total offense and forced seven fumbles.

·        On Monday, senior Arthur Williams was named the MSC Defensive Player of the Week after tallying nine tackles, including two sacks, in week one and sophomore Elijah Bell picked up special teams player of the week honors after returning the Rams' opening punt for a touchdown.

·        Campbell finished last season with a 5-7 overall record and 4-4 mark in PFL play, including a 31-24 win over Morehead State, which had beaten UPIKE 49-36 earlier in the season.

·        Mike Minter enters his third season as Campbell's head coach following a 10-year NFL career and national-championship winning collegiate career at Nebraska. Minter, a member of the Carolina Panthers' 2003 Super Bowl team at safety, is 8-16 with the Camels.

·        Kameron Bryant, a fifth-year senior transfer from Appalachian State, was named Campbell's starting quarterback heading into the 2015 season. At ASU, Bryant set a school completion-percentage record in 2013 at 71.2 percent.
