PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Shawnee State turned a 1-0 halftime lead into a 4-0 shutout of the University of Pikeville men's soccer team on Saturday at the Bob Amos Complex.
Joe Lamont got things going in the 22nd minute, then SSU took over in the final 45 minutes with two goals from Matyas Krivan and a fourth from Martyn Sayer in the 86th minute.
UPIKE (1-4, 0-2 MSC) was outshot 18-2 in the game, including a 7-2 margin in shots on goal. SSU also finished with one corner kick while limiting the Bears to none.
Both of Pikeville's shots came from Daniel Olaniran and both were on target, but ultimately saved by Brandon Pfeiffer. UPIKE's Tyler Holland finished with three saves and the four goals allowed.
Shawnee State's (5-5, 2-0 MSC) shot leader was Sayer with five, followed by Krivan and Lamont with four shots each.
UPIKE returns to action at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, hosting No. 9 Lindsey Wilson at the Bob Amos Complex.
