Volleyball Overwhelms Alice Lloyd 3-0

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville volleyball team, led by Amari Eadie with seven kills, was on cruise control most of the night during a 3-0 rout of visiting Alice Lloyd at UPIKE Gym on Tuesday.

The Eagles remain winless on the season at 0-8, while UPIKE improves to 10-12.

Alice Lloyd managed to score just three points in the first set, which is the lowest total allowed in recorded program history. Things got better for the Eagles in the final two frames with 25-16 and 25-17 losses.

Service aces were the story of the match as the Bears hit 23 of them, combined with 14 service errors from Alice Lloyd that made things a lot easier for UPIKE to earn the win.

Eadie was backed up by Connor Cook and Kaitlyn Welsh with five kills each, while Cassidy Tackett chipped in with four. The Bears hit .269 as a team, including a massive .667 showing in the opening set. Alice Lloyd hit a combined -.094 as Sarrah Huber paced it with just two kills.

Of UPIKE's bounty of aces, Sydney Hall led the way with 10 and Savanna Zakman dished out 15 assists in the quick match. Rachel Murphy led with seven digs and Tackett was the defensive leader at the net with two solo blocks.

The Bears return to action with a road conference doubleheader, taking on Life at 2 p.m. ET in Marietta, Ga.
