Volleyball Falls on the Road at Campbellsville 3-0

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Jana Kortes was too much to deal with, tallying 13 kills at a .333 clip and picking up four digs, to lead Campbellsville past the University of Pikeville 3-0 on Tuesday night at the Powell Athletic Center.

The Tigers earned set wins of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-19 to hand the Bears a loss, despite getting seven kills on 17 swings and three blocks from standout Sydney Hall.

Rachel Murphy and Amari Eadie added six and five kills, respectively for UPIKE (3-6, 0-3 MSC), but ultimately Campbellsville (4-4, 2-1 MSC) had too much in the tank, leading the hitting battle .308 to .096.

With just 22 kills for the match, assists were hard to come by for the Bears as Savanna Zakman dished out 14. Defensively, Haley Johnson and Kaitlyn Welsh led the team in digs with 11 and 10 each, while Hall's three blocks were a match high.

Inoa Fields paced the Tigers with 31 assists, Marcella Compeau finished with 12 digs and Mirela Vasconselos sent back a pair of blocks.

UPIKE led twice during the match, the first time at 4-3 in the opening set, then again at 4-3 in the third. Campbellsville enjoyed leads as large as 10 points in the first and third frames and eight in the second set.
