Pahkasalo Helps No. 19 Lindsey Wilson Past Men’s Soccer 5-0

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville men's soccer team held 19th-ranked Lindsey Wilson to just one second-half goal, but the damage had already been done by the Blue Raiders in the first half as Aleksi Pahkasalo netted a hat trick in the first 20 minutes to help his team to a 5-0 win on Sunday afternoon.

Lindsey Wilson (9-4-1, 5-0-1 MSC) led 4-0 at halftime as Pahkasalo scored the first three goals in the 15th, 17th and 30th minutes, followed by an own goal by the Bears (4-11, 1-6 MSC) in the 42nd.
The lone strike of the final half came in the 55th minute as Lawson Crider delivered off a cross from Moustapha Fofana.

The Blue Raiders outshout UPIKE 29-2 overall and 18-2 in shots on goal. Both of the Bears' attempts came in the second half from Logan Alexander and Eric Bernabeu, which were both saved by LWC keeper Alvaro Cortazar.

While Cortazar finished with just the two saves, UPIKE's Jorge Mejia stayed extra busy, collecting a season-high 14 saves. Pahkasalo kept him the busiest, taking a game-high nine shots, including seven on target.

Fouls went UPIKE's way 12-2, but corner kicks went in LWC's favor 6-1, as did offside calls, 7-0.
