PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Behind a pair of Destiny Molden home runs in the nightcap, the University of Pikeville softball team was able to secure a split with Kentucky Christian on Tuesday at Paul Butcher Field.
After falling 10-0 in six innings in the opener, the Bears' bats came alive in game two, outhitting the Knights 14-5 on their way to the lopsided win. The blasts over the centerfield fence were the second and third of the season for Molden who now leads the team in home runs.

Kentucky Christian 10, UPIKE 0 (6 inn.)
Amber Murrell led UPIKE with two hits at the dish, but it wasn't enough to spark the offense in a 10-0 loss to the Knights.
Katelyn Miller recorded the win for Kentucky Christian, throwing all six shutout innings with seven strikeouts, two walks and three hits.
A trio of home runs helped KCU as Hunter Scott homered in the third inning, Kailey Rigdon added one in the fourth and Miller helped herself in the circle with a sixth-inning shot.
Lindsay Floyd took the loss after allowing 10 runs on 12 hits in six innings while walking two and striking out two.
Kentucky Christian took the lead for good in the third, scoring first on Scott's solo home run.
KCU increased its lead with six runs in the sixth inning as Miller kicked things off with a two-run blas, scoring Mikayla Wyke. That was followed up by Rigdon's double, scoring Samantha Mitchell and Jade Spurlock.

UPIKE 9, Kentucky Christian 2
Molden was in the zone in game two as she hit two home runs to carry the Bears to a 9-2 win.
Thanks to 14 hits, including four for extra bases, UPIKE was able to secure the split. Alexandra Quill helped as well as she dominated in the circle, allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks in a full seven innings.
UPIKE was sparked by Amber Murrell and Molden, who teamed up for eight hits and six RBIs.
Whitney McKay took the loss for Kentucky Christian after allowing nine runs in the first six innings.
UPIKE never trailed in the game after scoring a single run in the second on a groundout by Logan Cline. The Bears matched their two-run fourth inning with two more in the sixth to help put the Knights away.
Molden's home runs came on a solo shot to lead off the third inning and a two-run shot to start the sixth frame.
