Men’s Tennis Goes on the Road to Top Bluefield 8-1

BLUEFIELD, Va. -- With only one loss in singles, the University of Pikeville men's tennis team claimed an 8-1 win at Bluefield on Monday.

UPIKE (8-2) started off hot, claiming three straight wins in doubles play, led by second-seeded Eric Bernabue and Diego Reboredo beating Carlton Tugman and Markel Aranberri 8-4.

Reboredo continued his strong play in singles where he posted the most convincing win at the No. 6 seed over Conor Whyte 6-0, 6-2. Top-seeded Pablo Casas was on his way to a lopsided win, leading 5-0 over Aranberri, before the Rams' (3-8) top seed retired.

UPIKE's next best win came at the third seed where Jan Kappes rolled over Tugman 6-1, 6-1. Secon-seeded Enzo Douillac outlasted Lochlan Kitchen 6-4, 6-4 and Juan Reyes won 6-1, 7-5 over Patrik Martin at the No. 5 seed.
