Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Georgetown Outlasts Men’s Soccer 1-0

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Georgetown outlasted the University of Pikeville men's soccer team 1-0 in a quality match at the Bob Amos Complex on a cold, Tuesday night.

It took until the 76th minute for someone to crack the scoreboard when Noel Roman played a short cross over to Nick Gregory for the simple finish from about 10-feet out. The whole play took place inside the penalty box.

It was an unflashy goal, not indicative of the frenetic pace of the rest of the game. Before that score and after, the teams went at it offensively with UPIKE (2-10-1, 0-5 MSC) firing 10 shots and the Tigers taking aim with nine.

But in the end, the only one that counted was Gregory's quick hitter in which he was uncovered just feet from the goal.

Eric Bernabeu paced UPIKE with four shots, including two that were on target. Gregory led the Tigers with five, of which two were on goal as well.

Anival Navarro was strong in goal for the Bears with three saves in a full 90 minutes. Patrick Shwarz and Jacob Roberts split time in goal for Georgetown (7-6, 2-3 MSC) with Shwarz collecting all three saves.
