Box Score PIPPA PASSES, Ky. -- Noelani Simpson kept the good times rolling for the University of Pikeville volleyball team as her 14 kills helped it top Alice Lloyd 3-0 and extended the Bears' winning streak to four matches.
That momentum will be as important as ever when Pikeville (9-19) hosts Cumberlands at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday in a match that will continue to help sort out the seeding for next week's Mid-South Conference Tournament. It's also senior night for Cecelia Ray, Natalia Gascot, Cassidy Tackett and Amari Eadie.
UPIKE won at Alice Lloyd (7-10) with set scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-18, making it two straight matches that the Bears have logged a shutout.
Simpson was alone in double figures for kills, but Savanna Zakman was close behind with nine and Cassie Jones chipped in with eight. Zakman also dished out 30 assists and Jones led the team with a pair of blocks.
It was an overall standout night for Zakman as she also led the Bears with 10 digs. Simpson also shined in more ways that just the attack as she had three aces as UPIKE led that category overall 8-1.
