No. 12 Campbellsville Gets Away from Men’s Soccer in Second Half

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- After playing over 55 minutes of scoreless soccer, 12th-ranked Campbellsville went on to score three unanswered goals the rest of the way to top the University of Pikeville men 3-0 on Friday night in Mid-South Conference play.

Anibal Navarro collected a game-high six saves for the Bears (2-8-1, 0-3 MSC), but eventually the disparity in shots took its toll. The Tigers (8-1-1, 2-0-1 MSC) led in shots 27-3 overall and 9-2 in attempts put on goal.

Ignacio Mangada led all players with six shots, but it was his corner kick in the 56th minute that proved the difference as Thom Edge let it make one bounce before hammering home a strike into the back of the net.

The big play seemed to take the lid off the goal as Campbellsville scored again two minutes later when Scott Brooksbank collected a rebound from a missed shot and made it himself. Mangada got on the board himself in the 77th minute off a cross from Sam Wills.

UPIKE's shots on goal came from Eric Bernabeu and Max Isenberg, but both were saved by starting keeper Andrea Nota. With the 2-0 lead in hand, Antonio Barona Bonet took over in goal for the final 32:32 without having to make a save.

Corner kicks went the Tigers' way 10-0, as did offside calls at 7-0.
