PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The 14th-ranked University of Pikeville men's basketball team shot 67 percent from the field on the way to a 122-74 rout of visiting Ohio-Chillicothe on Friday at the East Ky. Expo Center. The 11 straight wins are the best start for Kelly Wells in his 12 seasons as head coach at Pikeville.
Darrion Leslie scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Rodney Hawkins added 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Other double-digit scorers include Chase Parsley, Da'Rell Domineck and Mason Blair with 11 points each and Jayvian Delacruz with 10.
George Johnson had a good showing off the bench with six points and seven assists.
The Hilltoppers (2-8) hit at 40.8 percent and got a game-high 20 points from Mikel Pritchard in the loss. A 10-of-30 performance from behind the arc helped Chillicothe stay as close as it did, as it could have been much worse.
UPIKE (11-0) outscored the Hilltoppers 90-25 in the paint, 71-13 off the bench and 28-0 on the fastbreak as it never trailed in the game.
It was a 69-36 lead for the Bears at halftime before going on to tally leads as high as 48 points with 1:52 to play on a free throw by Austin Combs.
