PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Looking to avoid forecasted rain Saturday evening, the University of Pikeville baseball team had moved up its home-opening doubleheader against Goshen (Ind.) to 10 a.m. ET at Johnnie LeMaster Field, but the forecast has changed and the Bears have returned to the original noon time.
There will be no live media available for Saturday's games, but there will be live stats on Dakstats for the final two games of the series on Sunday. That doubleheader is scheduled for noon as well.
UPIKE is off to a 3-4 start with all seven of the games being played on the road in Laurinburg, N.C., and East Point, Ga.
Josh Bailey and Justin Beatty are the current leaders at the plate, hitting .455 and .454, respectively. On the mound, Dalton Dahley has impressed early with a 1-0 record and 3.18 ERA with a team-leading 10 strikeouts in just over 11 innings of work.
Reigning Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year Jim Pitt is in his second season leading the Bears after registering the most wins in 15 years last year with 25.
