CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Ninth-ranked Campbellsville captured a 9-0 win over the University of Pikeville men's tennis team on Thursday afternoon in Mid-South Conference action.
The Tigers (9-3, 3-1 MSC) won all six singles matches in straight sets and lost just four total games in the three doubles matches.
UPIKE's (7-4, 1-2 MSC) top-seeded doubles duo of Eric Bernabeu and Pedro Azevedo were the only ones to win games, falling 8-4 to Victor Alhbeck and Brendan Aguilar. Juan Reyes and Nicolas Rodenbusch, as well as Kenton Hall and Jorge Mejia, both lost 8-0.
Reyes came the closest to a win for the Bears in singles before losing at the No. 3 seed to Adrian Sabrojo 6-1, 6-4. Bernabeu also had a solid showing at the second seed, losing 6-4, 6-0 to Alejandro Reyes.
UPIKE returns to action on Sunday with a trip to Cumberland in Lebanon, Tenn.
