PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Johnson & Wales (N.C.) scored once in the first half and three more times in the second on its way to a 4-0 shutout of the University of Pikeville men's soccer team on Friday.

Jalen Jackson did the bulk of the damage for the Wildcats (1-0) with two goals, scoring both in the second half.

UPIKE (0-1) trailed 13-8 in shots, including an 8-3 deficit in shots on goal. Tito Villanueva paced Johnson & Wales with three shots, while Eric Bernabeu matched him with three for UPIKE. As far as shots put on target, JWU's Jackson and Weeb Isaac led the way with two each.

Anibal Navarro was a bright spot for the Bears in goal, collecting a game-best four saves while playing a full 90 minutes.

Gunner Tootle scored what would go down as the game winner in the 11th minute when he finished a through ball from Sam Flanning just inside the box. Nearly 50 minutes later, Jackson issued his first score off a cross from Mo Baskaron, then scored again a minute later off a pass from Isaac.

In the game's final 10 minutes, Seth Furman finished off the scoring with an unassisted goal after he finished off a loose ball in the box just a few feet from the net.
