Volleyball Comes Up Short at Kentucky Christian, 3-0

Box Score

GRAYSON, Ky. -- It was a tough night on the road for the University of Pikeville volleyball team as it lost at Kentucky Christian 3-0 on Tuesday.

There was the 29-27 loss in the second set that showed some fight left in the tank, but ultimately KCU took the first and third sets 25-23 and 25-20, respectively, to finish off the sweep.

Noelani Simpson had a good outing despite the loss, hitting 12 kills at a .360 clip to go along with four digs and an assist. The Bears hit .208 as a team with Savanna Zakman dishing out 20 assists while also finding six kills of her own.

Cassidy Tackett matched her with six kills as well, but she was also recorded with five errors. Errors played a role in the sweep in more ways than one as the Bears (3-5) also hit into 12 service errors.

Kentucky Christian (4-1) used strong serving, finishing with eight aces, to hold on for the pair of two-point wins before leading by five points or more in the third set from 19-14 on.
