Dubin Keeps Baseball’s Bats Quiet in 11-0 Loss

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Shawn Dubin, one of the Mid-South Conference's leading arms, and second baseman Antonio Monroy helped Georgetown to an 11-0 win in eight innings over the University of Pikeville baseball team on Friday night.

Dubin lasted six innings, allowing just three hits and striking out seven batters to secure the win. With his performance, and a pair of Tiger relievers, they limited UPIKE (23-19, 4-9 MSC) to just five hits for the game while Georgetown tallied 10.

The Tigers' two biggest hits came off the bat of Monroy as he hit two home runs, one in the third to make it 3-0, followed by a walk-off blast in the eighth to end the game by run rule.

Chase Robinson, making his first start of the season for UPIKE, got through two innings without giving up a run until Monroy belted his three-run shot with one out in the third. Before Robinson could get out of the frame, the Tigers added three more runs to take a 6-0 lead.

The score stayed there until the seventh when Georgetown (22-19, 6-8 MSC) added three runs on two hits, followed by Monroy bringing the game to a close with one swing in the eighth.

Robinson took the loss on the mound after allowing six runs on six hits with one strikeout in four innings of work.

Despite the slow performance at the plate overall, Luke Lubiniecki stepped up with a 2-for-2 showing and Nelson Muniz, Matt Peterson and Jay Vincent all chipped in with a hit each.

Monroy, Brandon Benson and Rodnee Little all tallied two hits each for Georgetown, while Monroy obviously stood out with five RBIs.
