PIKEVILLE, Ky. – History was made on Monday as UPIKE volleyball secured its second straight win by sweeping Alice Lloyd, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-6).
Senior hitter Noelani Simpson recorded her 1,000th career kill in the match, becoming the fifth player in school history to accomplish the feat. She led the team with a match-high 17 kills, two more than Alice Lloyd had as an entire team.
Despite the dominant win, it took the Bears a few points to get going offensively, but once things clicked there was little that the Eagles could do to stop UPIKE.
The Bears posted a .309 attack percentage for the match, while holding Alice Lloyd to a -.032 mark. Eight total Pikeville players recorded a kill in the sweep.
UPIKE also had eight total service aces, led by Mikela Cook's three, while Simpson and Brittany Reels added two and Sarah Clark had one.
The third set was the most dominant one by the Bears all season, which included a 17-1 run at one point as they hit .565 for the set.
