LAST TIME OUT:  UPIKE football put together its best game of the season on Saturday when the Bears shut out Cumberland (Tenn.), 27-0 in Lebanon. It is Pikeville's first shutout since October of 2016 when they defeated Cincinnati Christian, 59-0. It was also the first time Cumberland had been shut out by an NAIA team since 2004.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: Bethel lines up as a more traditional modern college football team, but operate out of it in a different fashion. The Wildcats lineup with a spread shotgun offense, but similarly to UPIKE, use a very run heavy offense out of it.

The Wildcats will be getting used to a big change on offense, going back to quarterback Christian Arrambide full time now, because of injury. Arrambide has played in all nine games, but was the less effiecient of the two QBs Bethel had relied on. He's completed only 40 percent of his 102 pass attempts on the season. Because of that, Bethel is expected to rely heavily on running back De'Ontay Tate on offense, who has rushed for 531 yards this season.

Bethel has the nation's top tackler in linebacker Jakobe Griffin, who averages 12.1 tackles per game. Even with the talent in their front seven, success can be had on the ground against the Wildcats who surrender 169.6 yards per game.

SENIOR DAY: Today marks the final home game of the season, meaning it will be the final home game for 21 UPIKE seniors. Those seniors will be honored before the game.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPECIALTY: The Bears have excelled this season in the game's forgotten third. UPIKE is fifth in punt return yards per attempt at 16.6, while also 32nd in punt yards per attempt (37.2). They are also 16th in field goal percentage and have only missed two extra points all season.

DEFENSE STEPPING UP: UPIKE's defense has made a big step up this season across the board. Pikeville is 21st in sacks per game, 30th in rush defense per game, and 31st in total defense. A good chunk of that success comes thanks to the ball hawks in the secondary. Johran Broadnax is 22nd in tackles for loss per game at 1.6, Cedric Thomas is 31st in total interceptions (3), Thomas and Brown are both 39th in passes defended per game, and Jacquez Russ is 40th in sacks per game.

20 YEARS OF BEARS FOOTBALL: This season marks UPIKE's 20th year of football. Players will wear decals on their helmet all season to signify the anniversary. UPIKE holds an all-time record of 91-118, but head coach Al Holland is turning the program around with winning seasons two of the last three years.
