PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Junior guard Jordan Perry led the pace on a night to remember offensively for UPIKE men's basketball as the Bears blew out Alice Lloyd on Tuesday, 109-78.
Pikeville shot 67.2 percent from the floor and 58.3 percent from long distance in the rout, both of which are season highs.
A good chunk of that shooting came from Perry, who had arguably his best game yet in an already memorable season, making a staggering 13 of his 16 attempts overall and six of seven from beyond the arc to tie his season high of 32 points, which is his third 30-plus point game this season.
UPIKE's starting lineup dominated offensively with four of the five starters scoring in double figures. Jazz Parker had another efficient night with 14 points on just five field goal attempts, Xaviar Gaona hit three 3-pointers en route to 13 points, and Luke Layhew was a two way menace with 12 points and seven boards.
While the starters had the flair, the Bears also received lots of contributions from the bench as well.
Deandre Barton and JJ Ramey both had eight points off the bench, while Da'Rell Domineck had seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.
UPIKE shared the ball well all game with 26 assists, the second-most this season.
Despite the relative ease UPIKE worked with on Tuesday, it took a while for the Bears to separate themselves from the Eagles.
Alice Lloyd was equally hot from the floor through the first ten minutes and held as much as a six-point lead. Pikeville closed the half on a 22-4 run as Perry caught fire to blow the game open by halftime. Perry made each of his final nine field goal attempts in the game.
From that point, UPIKE never looked back as they continued to build their lead to the final 31-point margin by the game's end.
