PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The 12-team fields for the NAIA Bowling National Invitational were released late Monday night and both Pikeville teams made the cut.
Both the men's and women's NAIA National Invitational is set to take place on March 28-30 in Topeka, Kansas.
Men's bowling received an at-large bid after falling short at the Mid-South tournament. UPIKE joins Martin Methodist as the only Mid-South teams to earn a bid.
UPIKE opened the season strong with top-three finishes in three of its first four tournaments of the season, including a win at the MSC Louisville Collegiate Classic to open the season. The Bears finished the season with six top-five finishes.
The women's team earned an automatic bid after winning the Mid-South Conference tournament. Martin Methodist, Cumberlands and Campbellsville will join the Bears at the national tournament.
Women's bowling finished in the top-five of every tournament it participated in this year, including a two month long streak of five straight wins.
Both teams will have work to do before heading to Topeka, as men's and women's bowling will compete at the USBC ITC Sectional Tournament in Stratford, N.J. on March 8-10.
