BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The first wave of accolades has rolled in for this year's UPIKE baseball team, with 14 players earning Academic All Mid-South Conference recognition.
The 14 players are the third most on a single team in the conference and holds steady from last year's mark. It also marks the fourth-straight season UPIKE baseball had 12 or more honorees.
Freshman Kevin Justice; sophomore Jackson Porter; junior Brady Cappe, John Duff, Trey King, Chase McKinney, Tyler Menrath, Daniel Dockery, and Will West; and seniors Brendan Halstrom, Luke Hartlage, Luke Lubiniecki, Jay Vincent, and Shane Williams all earned the award.
In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must appear on the eligibility sheet, maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.
For Hartlage, Vincent, and Williams, this marks their third year winning the award; while it is Lubiniecki and McKinney's second time winning the award.
