CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – It was another tough night on Wednesday for UPIKE volleyball as the Bears lost to Thomas More on Wednesday on the road, 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-15).
Thomas More's long defense gave UPIKE troubles all night as the Bears hit -.063 on the match as a team.
Noelani Simpson led the team on both offense and defense with nine kills and 13 blocks.
The Bears were competitive early before Thomas More went on a 10-1 run in the first set that took the wind out of UPIKE's sails. The Saints hit a highly efficient .400 in the set.
Pikeville righted a lot of its wrongs defensively in the second set, holding the Saints to a .059 attack percentage and forcing eight errors. But unfortunately, the offense couldn't break through to close the match's closest set.
Set three was very similar to the first in that the Bears were matching Thomas More point-for-point early, but a haymaker run ground Pikeville down as the Saints completed the sweep.
