PIKEVILLE, KY. – UPIKE volleyball faced their strongest test so far this season on Tuesday in its Mid-South Conference opener, facing Campbellsville on the road, a team receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll.
Campbellsville (6-1, 1-0) swept the Bears (4-4, 0-1) in commanding fashion, 25-13, 25-9, 25-18.
Noelani Simpson led the Bears with five kills, while Megan Frazier and Trinity Warfield each had three.
Despite facing an uphill battle in the first set, UPIKE was able to get some rallies going, including a 4-0 run toward the end of the set with kills from Yeryvel Catala and Warfield.
But the strongest run of the day came in the third set when the Bears went on a 6-0 run, capped by back-to-back aces from Sarah Clark, who is now second on the team with 13 in her freshman campaign.

UPIKE faces another strong challenge to round out the week on Thursday when the Bears host No. 9 Lindsey Wilson at 6 p.m. in UPIKE Gym.
