UPIKE Athletics Announces Updated Attendance Policy for Spring 2021

Pikeville, KY – UPIKE Athletics has announced an updated fan attendance policy effective immediately that includes new guidelines for students, fans, and media at all UPIKE home events. The announcement comes as UPIKE looks ahead at the Spring 2021 athletic calendar which includes over 70 home events spanning from January to April.

The new plan introduces a limited fan attendance policy for all athletic facilities, each of which will have specific procedures. Uniformed student-athletes will be allocated four tickets which will be distributed prior to each event and placed on a pass list for free admittance at the venue. Student-athletes, faculty and staff will be allowed entry free of charge with a valid UPIKE ID. All home fans wishing to attend can purchase tickets upon arrival at the venue with a limited number of tickets available.

All media will be admitted with screening prior to entrance. No fans or family from visiting teams will be permitted.

Protocols will be followed for safety and include a mandatory health screening for fans entering the facility conducted by a member of the UPIKE Sports Medicine staff. The screening will include a temperature check as well as a short questionnaire. Masks will also be required by all attendees as well as social distancing guidelines. Family groups should sit together and maintain safe distance from other fans and families. Contact with student-athletes or staff is prohibited prior to and after the completion of the event within or around all venues.

Appalachian Wireless Arena Special Notes
  • The upper arena concourse is designated for fans only, no fans will be allowed in the lower arena prior to, during, or after events. Fans must use the Main Street entrance and exit immediately upon the completion of the contest.
