Beavercreek, OH – UPIKE women's bowling wrapped up a solid weekend at the Orange and Black Classic, earning a runner-up finish in the varsity qualifying and a first-place finish in the JV bracket.

The two-day tournament began on Saturday with five team games followed by 16 baker-style games on Sunday. A total of 18 teams competed at the event which was held at Beaver-VU Bowl in Beavercreek, OH. Following the baker games, the top eight teams competed in a championship bracket. The qualifying round scores are taken towards USBC rankings.

In qualifying rounds, the Bears varsity squad tallied the highest five-game team score in the 23-team field with 5164 pins. UPIKE started hot knocking down 1142 pins in game one which would be the best game-score of the tournament. 
The varsity unit headed into baker play with the lead and would total 3239 pins through 16 baker games to seal the top spot, averaging 202.44 pins per game. The Bears managed a cumulative score of 8403, besting runner-up Belmont Abbey College by 157 pins.

The JV qualifying rounds saw the Bears JV1 unit finish second and the JV2 squad sixth. JV1 finished with 7603 pins, just 92 shy of leader Lawrence Tech. UPIKE's JV1 led the team play with 4627 pins, tallying the second-highest single game score in the tournament with a 994 in game five.

Ryan Taylor earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team with a score of 1092 in team play to finish fifth overall. Teammate Bryce Oliver finished sixth overall with 1089. Dylan Mishak finished second in the JV division with 1028 total pins, averaging 206 pins per game.

In the final championship brackets the varsity team earned a one seed and faced off with Lourdes in the opening round, winning in two games. The Bears then made quick work of Wright State in the second round tallying scores of 190 and 239 before moving on to the championship round. Lawrence Tech bested the Bears to claim the title in the final match.

Both JV units competed in their championship bracket and it was the JV2 squad who would make an impressive run to claim the title. After JV1 defeated Shawnee State in the opening round and JV2 took down Thomas More, the two teams battled in the semi-finals with JV claiming the victory. The JV2 Bears squad took on Lawrence Tech in what was an exciting three-game battle with the Bears winning two straight to seal the tournament championship.
