Vucetic Earns First Career Player of the Week Honor

Bowling Green, KY – Sophomore Oksana Vucetic was named the Mid-South Conference Defender of the Week after a stellar performance across three matches last week.

She had 13 total blocks, with eight solo and five assists, which included a career-high seven blocks (4 solo, 3 assists) in their win against Georgetown. She followed this up with five blocks (3 solo, 2 assists) against Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon. Vucetic also added nine kills, four digs, and an assist to her efforts last week. She has 44 total blocks this season (20 solo, 24 assists) after recording 34 blocks during her freshman campaign.

This is the first honor of her career, and the first time a Bear has ever been named MSC Defender of the Week. The last time any Bears volleyball player has been named player of the week was on August 26th, 2019 when Noelani Simpson was honored as MSC Attacker of the Week.

Vucetic will look to continue her stellar play tomorrow night when UPIKE welcomes University of the Cumberlands to the UPIKE Gym for a 7:00 p.m. match. The Bears will then travel to Portsmouth, Ohio on Wednesday to face off with Shawnee State at 7:00 p.m. in an MSC matchup.
