Louisville, KY – UPIKE women's bowling found success on Sunday at the Thomas Burris Memorial Tournament. The Bears earned runner-up in the varsity bracket while the JV1 and JV2 squads finished first and second, respectively.
The tournament consisted of five team games followed by a set of 12 baker games. Webber International claimed the title in the varsity bracket, totaling 7696 pins overall.
UPIKE's varsity team finished with 7476 pins in the final count, knocking down 5008 in the team rounds and 2468 in baker play. The Bear's top score in team play came in the third game where the Bears totaled 1067 pins.
The junior varsity bracket was dominated by the Bears who claimed both the title and the runner-up. JV1 took the top spot with a score of 7018 while the JV2 team finished with 6525.
Individually, the Bears landed a pair on the all-tournament team via
Emily Tull and
Savannah Croft. Tull's impressive outing saw her finish third overall with a score of 1117 in team play, averaging 223.4 pins per game. Teammate
Savannah Croft finished fourth in the field of over 200 bowlers, totaling 1069 pins for an average of 213.8.
