Pippa Passes, KY – The University of Pikeville women's volleyball team beat Alice Lloyd College on the road Monday evening, 3-0.

They were led by senior Yeryvel Catala, who recorded a career-high 17 kills and swung .500 in the match. Mikela Cook recorded double-digit digs for the eighth time in her last nine matches, recording 15 in the match. Leigh Johnson (20) and Cheyenne Martinez (17) both dished out double-digit assists in the contest.

The win moves UPIKE to 5-23 this season as they will be right back in action tomorrow evening when they host the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders in the UPIKE Gym.

Set By Set
Set one was tied at 14-14 before the Bears rattled off an 8-0 run to take a commanding 22-14 lead. The Eagles weren't out of it however, as they used a 9-2 flurry of their own to cut the lead to two at 24-23. The Bears were able to hang on and take set one 25-23.

Set two was all UPIKE as they took an 11-1 lead and never looked back en route to a 25-8 set win and 2-0 match lead. The final set was tied 12-12 before UPIKE used a 7-2 spurt to grab the momentum and a 19-14 advantage. The Eagles would cut it to one at 20-19 but a 4-0 run halted any hopes of an Alice Lloyd comeback as UPIKE secured the 25-21 set win and the 3-0 match sweep.
