Pikeville, KY – The University of Pikeville women's volleyball lost Tuesday night at home to the visiting Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders, 3-0.
It was senior night for the Bears as
Yeryvel Catala,
Megan Frazier,
Hunter Clewis, and
Leigh Johnson were all honored before the match.
Catala recorded a team-high seven kills while Clewis had a team-high 12 digs.
Cheyenne Martinez dished out 16 assists while
Oksana Vucetic also had four blocks in the match (2 solo, 2 assists).
UPIKE drops to 5-24 after the loss and 2-13 in the Mid-South Conference.
Set By Set
Lindsey Wilson led 10-5 in set one before the Bears cut the lead to 10-9 after a 4-0 flurry. A Martinez and Vucetic kill fueled the rally. UPIKE would keep it close at 14-13, but a 9-2 Blue Raider run halted their momentum and made it 23-15. Lindsey Wilson would win the set 25-16.
The second set was 8-6 in favor of Lindsey Wilson before they used a 11-3 run to take a 19-9 lead and never looked back. They won set two 25-13 and took a 2-0 match lead.
The Bears kept it close in set three at the start, trailing 10-7, but an 8-4 Blue Raider rally made it 18-11 as they seized the momentum. They would close out the match with a 25-14 set win to take the 3-0 victory.
