Women's Bowling Wins Thomas Burris Invitational; Secures Program's Ninth-Straight Regular Season MSC Title

Louisville, KY – UPIKE women's bowling has claimed the 2020-21 Mid-South Conference Regular Season title following the teams' first-place finish at Sunday's Thomas Burris Memorial Tournament. With the win, the Bears secure an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships.

It was a busy weekend for women's bowling as they hit the road for a pair of conference events beginning with Saturday's Lynne Jordan Invitational. The Bears competed in five team games followed by a baker series, totaling 5315 pins to notch a runner-up
finish in the nine-team competition.

On Saturday, the Bears bowled a 4320 in the team event before knocking down 995 pins in the baker games. Martin Methodist secured the tournament victory with 5485.

The Thomas Burris Memorial was held on Sunday and marks the final MSC regular season event of the season. UPIKE took down runner-up Martin Methodist and claimed their fifth overall tournament win of the season with 6012 pins.

UPIKE sophomore Nicole Gilbert earned her first individual title of the season on Sunday, totaling 1081 pins through five team games. The Alabama native averaged 216.2 pins per game, notching her best score of the day in game three with a 241.
The Bears are 50-2 in MSC play this season, earning the team their ninth consecutive regular season MSC title.

Next up for the Bears is the MSC Conference Championship which will take place in Sterling Heights, MI starting on Friday, March 12th.
