Spencer Wins Individual Title as Bears Finish Runner-Up at Brandon Burns Memorial

Smyrna, TN – UPIKE men's bowling took to the lanes in Tennessee over the weekend, competing in the third MSC tournament of the season- the Brandon Burns Memorial tournament. The Bears earned the runner-up spot in the varsity bracket with a two-day score of 9356 while the JV unit took second with a 8765. UPIKE's Parker Spencer secured the teams first individual title of the season with 1364 pins.

The two-day event consisted of six team games on Saturday followed by 16 baker games on Sunday. In the team portion, the Bears knocked down 6,249 pins to finish second just 51 pins behind tournament winner Marian. In the baker games, UPIKE tallied a score of 3107.

JV bowler Parker Spencer had a career performance over the weekend, earning his first individual title and the first for the Bears this season. Spencer's 1364 total beat-out runner-up Jeffery Mann of Marian by 10 pins. The Louisville native averaged 227 pins per game, with his high coming in game two where he bowled a 246.

Pikeville's Ryan Taylor earned 11th overall with a score of 1270, just a pin shy of a top ten finish. The freshman 211.7 pins per game in the team event.

The Bears currently sit at third in the MSC standings with a record of 32-7 after three events.

UPIKE men's bowling returns to action on February 27-28 in Louisville, KY for the MSC Thomas Burris Memorial.
