Allendale, MI –
Noah Thomas achieved a new milestone on Friday afternoon at the Grand Valley State Extra Weekend Meet, qualifying for the NAIA Track and Field Championships with a 47.61 meter throw in the discus.

Thomas, who holds the program record in each men's throwing event, threw the new personal record distance in his second throw of the day. The sophomore's toss meets an NAIA "B" standard for qualification which is 47.60m. Xavier Goana was the last athlete from UPIKE to qualify for the NAIA Championships, doing so in the triple jump back in 2019.

Bobby Allums managed his fourth podium finish at the Hillsdale Outdoor Tune-Up on Friday, placing second. The freshman ran a new personal record time of 22.35.

"What an accomplishment for Noah and UPIKE overall. We competed this weekend with one mission and we completed that mission"
-Head Coach David Espinoza

The NAIA National Championships are set for May 26-28 and will be held at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala. Thomas will compete in the men's discus at 5 PM on Thursday, May 27th.
