Campbellsville, KY – UPIKE men's soccer dropped their second match of the season Tuesday night at the hands of Campbellsville. The Bears managed three shots in the contest but were unable to find goal, losing by a final score of 6-0.
The Bears defense held off the Tigers for the first 23 minutes, warding off a a pair of shots via saves from
Jalen Smith. Campbellsville got on the board in the 24
th minute to make it 1-0 before scoring again on a penalty kick less than five minutes later to extend the lead to two. The Bears totaled two shots in the first half, coming off the feet of
Yuri Rocha and
Alejandro Swanton, the latter being blocked by the Tigers.
Campbellsville scored their last goal in the 36
th minute and carried a 3-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
It took 23 minutes for Campbellsville to strike again, legging a goal in the 68
th minute to go up 4-0. In the meantime, Smith recorded four more saves as the Tigers continued their attack on the net. After a score in the 71
st minute by the Tigers, the Bears trailed 5-0 and the Bears put freshman keeper
Adam Di Millo in to guard the goal for UPIKE.
The Tigers managed one more goal in the 73rd minute to seal the 6-0 win.
Favio Govea, Rocha, and Swanton, all finished with a shot for the Bears while Smith finished with six saves.
UPIKE men's soccer returns to the pitch Friday, September 24th as they travel to Columbia, KY to take on Lindsey Wilson.
