Beavercreek, Ohio – Women's bowling claimed the tournament title in both the varsity and JV brackets this weekend at the Orange and Black Classic. The Bears varsity team finished first of 16 in tournament play while JV1 finished first of six.  

After entering day two in second place, the Bears impressed in baker play as varsity finished team scoring with a 7238 total to win the event. UPIKE dominated the field, beating out runner-up Notre Dame College by 159 pins.  

In the JV bracket, the "A" unit dropped 7171 pins to claim the title, besting the Bears' "B" team by 6778. The teams finished first and second, respectively, and surpassed third place Wright State by over 700 pins.  

Kadie Dicken notched her first all-tournament finish of the season in impressive fashion, placing second of over 140 bowlers. The junior totaled 995 pins, averaging 199 through five team games. Her total was just four pins shy of the tournament champion. 

Kristina Catoe also captured an all-tournament distinction with her 987-pin total which landed her third. Catoe averaged 197.4.  

Just outside the top 10, finishing 12th was Vanessa Fuzie who totaled 898 pins. Overall, the Bears placed eight individuals in the top 30.  

In post-tournament match play, the varsity unit garnered the one seed and took down Alma College in three games to advance. The Bears then defeated Wright State before moving on to the championship match against Shawnee State. Shawnee claimed the best of three to earn tournament champion.  

Bears' JV1 and JV2 entered post-tournament play with the top two seeds. JV1 defeated Wright State and JV2 took down Notre Dame College, advancing both teams in the bracket. A championship match between two teams from the same school was not conducted.  

Women's bowling returns to action on Saturday, October 15th as they head to Indianapolis, Indiana for the Columbia 300 Western Shootout.
