Bears Fall In Physical Match With Tigers

Pikeville, Ky. - The UPIKE Bears played their third game of a four game homestand tonight against the Campbellsville University Tigers and were defeated 4-0.

UPIKE started the game off with a few good rushes and a shot on goal by Paul Kueltz. Thivesh Naiker had a great look on net a few minutes later but his attempt went wide. Campbellsville responded by turning up the heat in the attacking zone, with a header and two corner kicks. The Tigers continued knocking on the door until they knocked in two goals in the 22' and 26'.

Both played a physical and chippy game tonight. The physicality was on full display in the 31' when a big time collision between a UPIKE player and a Tigers player resulted in a yellow card. Shortly after, Nikolay Nikolov's shot on goal ended in a save and Richard Wohl's attempt went wide. Campbellsville would add another goal just before the halftime break to go up 3-0.

The Campbellsville side tacked on another tally just three minutes into the second half to go up 4-0. Neither team would score again, but both teams got some good opportunities. The Bears fired two shots on net in the 69', neither of which ended up on the scoresheet. UPIKE would go on to drop the match 4-0.

The Bears will look to regroup after tonight's loss and take on Lindsey Wilson College this Saturday evening. Saturday evening's contest is also senior night at Bob Amos.
