Georgetown, Ky. - The UPIKE Bears were defeated 8-0 tonight by their Mid-South Conference foes, the Georgetown College Tigers.
The Tigers went on the attack early and scored two goals in the first six minutes of the match. UPIKE came back with two shot attempts but neither found the net. Later on in the half, Thivesh Naiker recorded the only UPIKE shot on goal of the game in the 30'. Shortly after Naiker's scoring chance, the Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the 33'. Georgetown went into the half leading 3-0 on the scoreboard.
UPIKE's best scoring chance of the second half came in the 60' on a corner kick, but the Bears could not find the back of the net. Georgetown, however, continued to pour on the scoring chances and goals in the second half. The Tigers added five more goals in the second half and won the match 8-0.
Following tonight's loss, the Bears record falls to 4-6-1 (0-3-1 MSC) on the season. The Bears will take to the pitch again this Tuesday afternoon against Cumberland (Tenn.) at Bob Amos.
