Bears Claim Runner-Up, Two Finish All-Tournament at MSC Cincinnati Classic

Fairfield, Ohio – UPIKE's women's bowling program moves into a three-way tie for first in the Mid-South Conference standings, following the teams second-place performance at the Cincinnati Collegiate Classic over the weekend. Kristina Catoe and Brianna Rogers both claimed All-Tournament distinctions following Sunday's action.

The tournament is the second installment of the five MSC regular season contests of the regular season and featured nine team games. The competition consisted of 16 teams in the varsity bracket, and five teams bowling JV. SCAD-Savannah topped the leaderboard, totaling 9072 pins which bested the Bears' 8729-pin total by 343 pins.

UPIKE's varsity unit topped all MSC schools in the competition, beating out third-place finisher Cumberlands by just 13 pins. Through the first five games on Saturday, the Bears stood at third on the leaderboard trailing UC by 92 pins with a total of 4928.
UPIKE's best performances came in games three and four where they knocked down a combined 2,124 pins. The Bears tallied higher scores than the Patriots in three of Sunday's four games to make the jump to their second-place finish.

In the JV portion of the event, the Bears "B" team topped the leaderboard with a 7823-pin total. The JV2 team finished 85-pins back to claim runner-up. The Bears' JV teams have now claimed first in all four events this season.

Averaging 214.11 pins per game, Kristina Catoe claimed her third straight all-tournament honor. The junior finished third overall of 136 bowlers with a total of 1927 pins in nine games. Catoe bowled a 200 or more in eight of nine games, recording her best in game five with 237.

Reigning MSC Women's Bowler of the Week Brianna Rogers finished fourth for her second straight all-tournament honor. Rogers' 1900 pin total was 27 short of teammate Catoe, recording her best score in game four with a 242.

Mikayla Blair finished 25th as an individual, leading the JV1 unit. Blair finished with 1659 pins while teammate Kadie Dicken totaled 1643 to finish 29th.
