Williamsburg, Ky. - The University of Pikeville Bears wrapped up the 2022 regular season with a 5-0 road loss to the #23 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots.
The Bears and Patriots were level at 0-0 until the 16' when the Patriots took a 1-0 lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Adam Di Millo made some key saves at point-blank range in his 15th start of the season. Di Millo's play combined with the defense making some timely clearing attempts kept the score at 1-0 headed into halftime. On the other end of the field, the Bears offense did not muster up any shot attempts in the first half.
It was a tale of two halves as the Patriots scored two early second-half goals and led 3-0 after 54'. UC would tack on two additional goals in the 66' and 75' to go up 5-0. Cedric Schuhmann and Richard Wohl had shot attempts in the 75' and 78', respectively, but neither were on net. Neither squad would score again and the Bears lost 5-0.
The 2022 regular season has come to an end for the Bears and next up is the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
