Bowling Green, Ky. - Mid-South Conference officials announced Madelyn Smith as MSC Women's Swimmer of the Week today. 

During last weekend's meet at Shawnee State, Smith swam in the 50 meter freestyle, the 100 meter breaststroke and the 400 meter freestyle. In the 400, the freshman from Bardstown, Ky. improved by shaving off a whole minute off her time from the last meet. "Madelyn has been working a lot on distance and her times have improved. She has had some tough practices but has never once complained," said Head Coach Bernie Haney. 

It is Smith's first time being named MSC Women's Swimmer of the Week. She is also the first swimmer in UPIKE Women's Swimming program history to be named for the award. 

Coach Haney's squad will return to action following the New Year when the Bethel Wildcats come to Pikeville on January 14th.
