Bears Take Down Webber For Third Straight Win

Lake Wales, Fla. - Less than 24 hours after notching a 70-55 win over the Warner Royals, the Bears took down the Webber International Warriors 73-60. 

The Bears and Warriors were neck-and-neck for most of the first quarter until the Bears went on a 9-4 run to close out the first quarter with a 16-11 lead. Freshman Allie Stone had eight first quarter points while graduate student Hailey Free had three rebounds and two assists. 

Katie Collopy hit a three to put the Bears up 19-13 early in the second. Webber stormed back by going on a 9-2 run to take the lead. Over the next 4:06, the Bears went on a 12-2 run and took a 34-24 lead into halftime. Mary Englert had six points while Sheridan Robbins had four points and three rebounds. 

Webber hung around in the third quarter before going on a run that got them to within two points of the Bears. UPIKE responded by going on an 11-2 run to close out the third quarter with a 54-43 lead. Allie Stone had six points and Sierra Feltner had a layup and a three-pointer during UPIKE's late-quarter surge. Stone had eight points in the quarter while Feltner with seven. 

The Bears held a steady lead until midway in the fourth quarter when the Warriors hit a three to make the score 61-58. On the Bears next possession, Bailey Frazier slammed the door on the Warriors' comeback bid by draining a three as the shot clock expired. UPIKE closed out the game on a 9-2 run and took this one 73-60. Morgan Stamper went off in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points, grabbing four rebounds and going 4-4 from the free throw line. 

Morgan Stamper led UPIKE with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Allie Stone was second in scoring with 16 points and Sierra Feltner had 15 points and three assists. Hailey Free had a solid game as well, notching four assists and six boards. As a team the Bears out-rebounded the Warriors 40-33, including a 15-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Similar to yesterday's win over Warner, the Bears held the lead in this game for over 34 minutes. 

UPIKE has now won three in a row and four of their last five, and their record now climbs to 9-4 (5-3 MSC). Next up for the Bears is a trip to Ohio for a matchup with the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars on December 29th.
