McKenzie, TN – The University of Pikeville softball team suffered a pair of losses on Sunday afternoon at Bethel University, 12-0 and 8-0. UPIKE struggled to get anything going offensively in either game, producing five hits in their 10 innings of play. Lillie Kluesner had a hit in both games for the Bears.

In the first game, UPIKE had an opportunity to score in the opening inning after a pair of hits from Kluesner and Carrie Boyd set the Bears up at first and third with one out. The Wildcats wriggled out of the jam though with two straight outs. After an Alexis Roby double led off the top of the second, UPIKE was in business again, but Bethel got out of the jam in their eventual win. In the second game, the Bears had an opportunity in the first inning with a runner at second, but couldn't bring her home.

UPIKE falls to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the Mid-South Conference. They return to action at Paul Butcher Field Thursday afternoon for a pair with WVU Tech with first pitch of game one slated for 1:00 p.m.
