So far, women's basketball, men's golf, softball, baseball, among others have signed up to participate in the challenge. Each student-athlete is challenged to raise $75 or more in order to take "The Plunge" and receive a commemorative t-shirt. Teams raising over $500 will see their coach take the cold dip and finally if a department raises over $5,000 the athletic director and president must take "The Plunge".

"Sports is a very powerful connector in our society and it has been great to have Mid-South athletes come to us with the idea for and to continue this program. The benefits that Special Olympics athletes across the Mid-South Conference footprint receive from this event are immense", Mazzoni added."
