Pikeville, KY – Bears baseball notched win number 13 Tuesday afternoon, dominating Alice Lloyd College 11-1. The Bears avenge their earlier season loss to the Eagles behind a dynamic offensive performance that featured 13 hits.
The Bears eclipse last season's win total, improving to 13-19 with 18 games left on the schedule.
Offensive power was abundant for the Bears as six finished with multi-hit games.
Noah Helton paced UPIKE at the plate with a 3-4 outing that included a homerun, a stolen base, and three runs scored. The sophomore has now tagged a hit in nine straight games.
Tyler Freas is now tied for second in the NAIA in triples with six on the season following a 2-5 effort. Freas connected for a double and a triple, scoring on both trips and is currently tied for the team lead with 42 hits on the season.
Ryan Sartin continued to display his defensive prowess, recording six assists from short stop. Sartin also went 2-3, driving in a pair of runs and crossing the plate twice himself.
Ty Yates offered an excellent start, going five innings and allowing just one run on six hits. Yates picked up the win to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Nolan Fernandes both tossed shutout innings before
Cody Morton closed the game with a scoreless inning in the eighth.
The Bears went up early with three runs in the first inning thanks to singles from
Tyler Maynard and
Cam Revolt, and an RBI fielders choice from Sartin. Helton made it 4-0 Bears with a solo blast with two down in the second, his second home run of the season.
The Eagles crossed their lone run in the third via a single and a fielders choice, answered by the Bears in the bottom of the fourth where Freas' triple kicked off a two run inning. The Bears struck again in the fifth with two more, sparked by a
Demarco Miller lead-off triple. Miller scored on a deep SAC fly from
Jared Kirkman before Freas doubled to center field and scored on an error.
Kirkman stepped up with another SAC fly to center in the sixth, crossing Sartin who singled to lead off the inning. The bottom of the eighth saw the Bears seal the mercy rule victory with two runs, scored by Sartin and Revolt. Sartin led off with a single, stole second and was scored on an RBI shot up the middle from Revolt. Revolt scored what would be the final run after an error by the Eagles following fly out from Miller.
The Bears get back to work tomorrow, March 30
th against Emory & Henry, looking to go 2-0 against the Wasps on the season. First-pitch from Emory, VA is slated for 3:00 PM.
