Thomas Wraps Up Competition at NAIA Indoor Championships

Brookings, SD – Noah Thomas completed his run at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday afternoon, placing 25th of 32 in the weight throw competition.

Thomas lined up in the first flight at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex, competing against seven throwers from across the country. The sophomore qualifier tossed a 14.99 in his first attempt but bounced back in his second, throwing for 16.15 meters.

His throw of 16.15m would be his best score, and place him fourth in his flight behind Nick Huynh from Cornerstone who notched a 16.31 meter throw. Thomas did not make the finals flight which took the top nine throws, finishing 25th of 32.

The Ashland, Ky. native has been a trailblazer for the program, becoming the first to qualify for NAIA Indoor Championships. Thomas has also qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Championships last season, where he competed in the discus competition.

Thomas and UPIKE track and field look ahead towards the outdoor season which opens on March 18th at the Rams College Invitational in Columbia, SC.
