Pikeville, KY – Women's tennis faced (14) Cumberlands on Sunday, opening the MSC schedule with a 6-0 loss to the Patriots. The match was cut short due to weather, leaving the number six singles unfinished.
UPIKE's sole victory on the day came from the duo of
Luisa Diaz and
Camila Agudelo in the number two doubles, defeating their pairing 6-3.
Andrea Hurtado and
Gabriela Guacanes fell 6-2 in the #2 doubles spot while
Sara Contreras and
Riley Mullins were swept 6-0 at #3.
The Patriots swept the Bears in singles play, with the best performance coming from Diaz who took her opponent 6-1, 7-5 at #3. Hurtado went 0-6, 1-6 in the #1, Agudelo dropped 1-6, 0-6 in the #2. In the #4 it was Guacanes who was swept by Johanna Beckman 0-6, 0-6 before Contreras went 1-6, 1-6 in the #5.
The Bears return to action on Friday, March 11th as they take on the (RV) Cumberland Phoenix at Bob Amos Park. The match is set to start at 1:00 PM.
