Bears Bowling Headed to Third Straight NAIA Championships

Pikeville, KY – For the third consecutive season, both UPIKE men's and women's bowling squads will make the trip to Sterling Heights, Michigan for the NAIA Bowling Championships, announced the national office Monday night.

Women's bowling, who earned runner-up at the Mid-South Conference Championships earned an automatic berth in the 12-team bracket. The Bears are joined by one other MSC institution, Tennessee Southern, who claimed both the regular season and tournament championship.

Coach Brown's unit has notched four tournament victories thus far this season, and are looking ahead at this weekend's ITC Sectional play in Smyrna, TN. The Bears look to make a title game run this season following an impressive 2021 performance that saw them make it to the fourth round on the national stage.

The men's team was also runner-up in the MSC Championships, securing their bid to compete for a national title.  Coach Wilson's Bears have earned one tournament title and four runner ups throughout the season, snagging a highlight win in post-tournament play at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational. Last season, the men's squad made it to round five before dropping in the elimination bracket at the NAIA Championships.

The 2021-22 NAIA Bowling Championships begin on Thursday, March 24th with Baker play to determine seeding for the double-elimination bracket. Schedule of events and championship information can be found via the links below.
