Pikeville, KY – The University of Pikeville softball team fell in a pair of games Friday afternoon against No. 15 University of the Cumberlands, 1-0 and 9-0.

UPIKE got four hits in the first game coming from four different Bears. After trailing 1-0, the Bears had a chance to tie it in the bottom of the fourth, but the Patriots threw the tying run out at home plate. They also loaded the bases with a pair of outs in the bottom of the fifth but couldn't bring anyone home and would drop the game 1-0. Mattea Ware pitched well in the circle for the Bears, throwing a complete game and striking out four.

Cumberlands grabbed a 2-0 lead in game two and wouldn't look back in their 9-0 win. Zoe Ingram hit a double for the Bears in the bottom of the fourth to get a runner in scoring position but didn't come around to score. Ingram had a hit in both games for the Bears.
