Pikeville, KY – The University of Pikeville softball team fell in a pair of games Friday afternoon against No. 15 University of the Cumberlands, 1-0 and 9-0.
UPIKE got four hits in the first game coming from four different Bears. After trailing 1-0, the Bears had a chance to tie it in the bottom of the fourth, but the Patriots threw the tying run out at home plate. They also loaded the bases with a pair of outs in the bottom of the fifth but couldn't bring anyone home and would drop the game 1-0.
Mattea Ware pitched well in the circle for the Bears, throwing a complete game and striking out four.
Cumberlands grabbed a 2-0 lead in game two and wouldn't look back in their 9-0 win.
Zoe Ingram hit a double for the Bears in the bottom of the fourth to get a runner in scoring position but didn't come around to score. Ingram had a hit in both games for the Bears.

It's senior day tomorrow afternoon for UPIKE as they host University of the Cumberlands for two more games at Paul Butcher Field beginning at noon.
