Midway, KY – Despite taking the lead via a solo homer off the bat of
Tyler Maynard in the top of the ninth, Bears baseball fell to Midway 8-7 on Wednesday after a walk-off 2-RBI double by the Eagles in the bottom of the ninth.
Ryan Ratliff got the start for the Bears and went three innings and an out, allowing six runs (4E) on six hits. Ratliff walked three and struck out a pair.
Ty Yates took over in the fourth and went 2.2 innings in which he gave up a single run and struck out two before
Nolan Fernandes closed the game. Fernandes picked up the loss despite throwing two hitless innings, only giving up one hit which was the walk-off in the final frame.
Tyler Maynard completed one of his best performances of the season, going 3-5 at the plate with a double and go-ahead home run. Maynard drove in two runs and scored three himself, adding a stolen base. The Louisa, KY native ties

Eduardo Bello connected for his fifth double of the season, finishing 2-4 with a game-high four RBIs.
Three hits in the opening frame put the Eagles up 2-0, scoring both on an RBI double to center field. The Bears put three runners on in Bello,
Cam Revolt, and
Demarco Miller via walks and a fielders choice but wouldn't strike.
Neither team would score until the bottom of the fourth when Midway extended their lead with three runs. The bats woke up for the Bears in the sixth, as Bello ripped a two-RBI double to left center that scored
Noah Helton and Maynard.
In the seventh, the Bears tied the game at six with four runs on three hits, led off by a
Jared Kirkman single. A sac bunt from
Zach Hill advanced Kirkman and
Ryan Sartin followed with a walk.
Tyler Freas put a ball in play, reaching on a fielder's choice before a throwing error scored Kirkman and put Freas in scoring position. Two at-bats later, Maynard sent a double down the right field line to score Freas, bringing the Bears within two runs with runners on second and third. Bello poked a single to score Maynard and Helton, tying the game at 6-6.
With two outs in the top of the ninth, Maynard slugged a solo shot over the left field fence, giving the Bears a 7-6 lead. A walk opened the ninth for the Eagles before a hit by pitch put the tying run on second. The Eagles' catcher drove both runs in with an double in the next at-bat to secure the walk-off win.
The Bears hit the road for Crestview Hills, KY this weekend for their final regular season conference series with Thomas More. Game one is set for Friday, April 22
nd at 3:00 PM.
