Pikeville, KY – Alyssa Tenney and Matthew Russell of UPIKE Archery will be taking a trip to China this summer, representing Team USA in the World University Games. Both Russell and Tenney shot top three scores in the compound divisions at the U.S. Team Trials to earn the prestigious selections.

Chengdu, China is the host city for the event, which is also known as the FISU Summer Games. The Olympic style structure features 18 sports, including target archery where only 16 student-athletes from institutions across the US were selected. The event runs from June 26^th – July 7^th and is the largest multisport event for student-athletes in the world.

Russell will be traveling to represent Team USA for the second time this year after competing in the Youth World Cup earlier in 2022. The World University Trials took place in at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, Arizona at the start of April, with nine athletes shooting trials to earn a trip to Chengdu. Russell shot the second-best score in the competition, totaling 704 in two rounds (351, 353).

Alyssa Tenney will represent Team USA for the first time in her career following her performance in Phoenix. The freshman shot the third best score of five archers, totaling 672 (334, 338) which punched her ticket to Chengdu.
