Greenwood, Ind. –
UPIKE Director of Athletics Communications & Digital Media, Alek Morgan, received recognition in the CoSIDA 2021-22 Publications & Digital Design Contest. The awards, released by the organization on Tuesday afternoon, highlight the top work submitted by communications professionals in all levels of college sports.

In the Winter Posters category, two UPIKE pieces earned top-10 national placements. In fifth place was the 2021-22 UPIKE men's basketball schedule poster which can be viewed via the link above. The poster features Jacob Brown, Darius Love, Kevin Bishop II, and Maurice Dickson.

Earning eighth place in the Winter Posters design contest was the 2021 Basketball Blast Off promotional poster. The piece was designed to be distributed around campus and to local businesses to promote the annual Bears Basketball Blast-Off which featured both the men's and women's basketball programs.

"This recognition by CoSIDA reflects the growth of our department made possible by so many individuals. I would like to thank our staff and coaches for supporting the work we do and helping us create content that stands out and showcases our student-athletes," said Morgan. "I am honored and humbled that our work was reviewed and voted on by some of the hardest-working and talented individuals in the industry."

Morgan, who took over as Sports Information Director in 2020, has made growing the brand footprint of UPIKE Athletics via graphic design and visual art a priority. The department has earned several recognitions in recent months including two NAIA-SIDA Publications awards. Morgan received fifth place in the 2021-22 Dr. Jack Bell Writing Contest: Feature Stories category for his piece on Kelly Well's KHSAA Hall of Fame Induction. Former Assistant Sports Information Director Michael Pagano was recognized for his 2022 Softball Preview which took ninth in the Season Preview/Review category.
